“The psychiatrist may have meant well, but he seemed unfamiliar with respectful, current language for discussing LGBTQ+ families. The way he referred to our family made me question whether he would be able to provide objective, affirming care. I don’t believe he was a good fit for our family, and I hope he receives updated training on inclusive communication. Update 1: After posting this review, I received a call from the office manager. She offered a brief apology and asked why I did not want to continue care. I reiterated that my concern was the psychiatrist’s use of outdated language and apparent lack of appropriate terminology when working with a gender diverse/queer family. The call did not include further questions or discussion to explore the experience in more detail. Update 2: I received an email around 4 pm and a text around 6 pm after business hours. I responded the following morning with a thoughtful reply. I wanted to clarify the timeline, as I had not yet been given a full business day to respond when it was stated that I had not replied. I am a parent to a child with cancer, and I am not always available after hours, but I do respond promptly when I am able.”
“I’ve been a patient of Dr. Brock’s for over 3 years now. Anytime I’ve ever needed a change or readjustment to one of my medications I know I can trust Dr. Brock to genuinely listen to my concerns. There’s even been a few times that I needed to reach the office after hours and someone has always answered or called back. I greatly appreciate the staff at Shrink Savannah and always being treated with kindness, along with how quickly Dr.Brock and the staff respond if there’s any questions or concerns.”
